Week 71

Well I hope all yall that are reading this are enjoying your summer because its starting to get REALLY cold here! haha. Everyone says like "don´t you live in utah?" and I'm like " yeah a really long time ago, now the cold isn't my friend!"

Some Cool Things That Happened This Week:
-Our investigators Matias and Anahi Got Married!!! Wooohoooo. Now they have a baptismal date for this saturday!

-Our other investigator Gerardo is soooo coool. He has read almost 70 pages of the Book of Mormon and is going to be baptized on Friday! You should hear his testimony.

-This week a lot of our contacts weren´t turning out that friendly. I don´t know if its for the cold or what but me and my comp one morning walked around with the biggest smiles on our face that we could. I'm not sure if we scared the people in the street or helped them feel happier but it was a blast.

I heard a quote this week that I really like it goes a little like this:

Es Bueno Ser Importante, pero, Es Mas Importante Ser Bueno

Its Good to Be Important but its more Important to be Good

Im grateful for all the great examples in my life that magnify this quote.
My amazing parents that do so much without any recognition
My dedicated brothers and sister that help by writing and praying every week
The members here in Argentina that so willingly give us the little that they have
My companion that tries everyday to be a little better and help me do the same.

Week 69

WHAT A WEEK!

Well long story short my comp and I were both sick this week! But I think my comp had it worse! He couldn´t leave the pension for 4 days so I was out teaching with a member most of the time.

Yesterday I got to call the fam. That was great to be able to see them again. I´m grateful for my family and I know that families can be together forever.

See ya'll later,

Week 68

This week was great! My comps a champ. He has a really bad cold or allergies.... were not exactly sure what they are but hes been muscling it out!

A funny experience from this week. Elder Rudder and I were walking in the street when we saw a bunch of kids playing soccer ( like they always do!) so we stole the ball from them to play for a bit. We did a couple of tricks with the ball and the kids sat there like WOW! Then they started to chant Messi! Messi! Messi! Then we gave them cards that have a picture of Jesus and they came and asked us for our signatures on the back!! haha instead I wrote the address of the church. I think I'm pretty sneaky sometimes haha.

One of the best parts about being a missionary is the spirit that you feel everyday. This week we've had a couple of people in lessons and contacts start to attack the church and the Book of Mormon. Or they try to use different things to prove that what we teach isn't true. There are many times when I don't have an answer to their questions, but I always feel the spirit so strong when I can simply say that I have received an answer from God and I know its true. Its such a blessing to have revelation in our lives. Every day I feel so inadequate, I don´t feel smart enough, I feel like I can't handle the responsibility of being a missionary of God and then the spirit reminds me that I can't. But thats ok because we are never alone in this work. Christ can perfect us in our weakness and shortcomings.

This week as we taught about the plan of salvation with a new investigator Fernando he said. ´I don't regret one bit letting you guys in my home. What you are saying to me sounds so familiar. Its like I was searching for this but I didn´t even know it.¨

Thank you all for your love and support.

Love, Elder Starkey
