Week 39

This week was good but not a whole lot has happened.

We are working a ton with the family Catacata.  They are super cool and are going to be baptized the 24 of October.

Sorry I don't have much to write this week, but I love the mission.  I am so grateful for the chance I have to be here, and for all the support I've received.

Love,
Elder Starkey

Uh oh... I guess I am needing new pants.

A member helped us each buy a 7 pound bag of cereal, ha ha...

These pics of us in the street are from today.

We didn't have any milk, so we walked to a store close to the church...

Then we ate together at the church, ha ha!!

The bags on the table are their milk.  It comes in bags...

Week 38: Conferencia

It's been a crazy week but in my letter I just want to talk about General Conference, because conference is super cool.  Here are a couple of themes I saw while watching:

1:  Keeping the Sabbath day holy
-What do we do after church?
-What do we do to sanctify this day and make it special?
-I know that when we really look for ways to "make the Sabbath a delight" we will see a big          difference and blessings in our families and homes.

2:  The Savior
-I noticed that everyone was talking about their testimonies of the Savior.  I forgot my notes from conference so I can't use them to write this letter.  Something that made a big impact on me was how much all the General Authorities say that they rely on Jesus Christ.  I am going to try to rely on him more to let him guide me, carry me, and bare my burdens.

3:  Moms
-While I was listening to Jeffery R. Hollands talk it made me really grateful for my amazing mom I have, who really helps me to feel my Saviors love for me.  Thanks mom!

My watch after finished a random service project of shoveling a HUGE pile of dirt,
now we are going to be teaching the sister we did this for.

We had to walk really far and cross that wood thing to get to a lesson,
it was suuupppeerr sketchy!! It felt like Indiana Jones, ha ha.

Elder Sims giving me a haircut...

Helping brush the paint off the walls at a members home...

A super yummy banana milk smoothie...

The Katakata Family, we taught them one time and they came to watch Conference!

Week 37: The Famous Elder Fifita

So last week was transfers and Elder Smith got transferred to Tucuman and my new companion is... Elder Fifita!  I had never met him before but I had heard tons about him because he also served in Pichanal, my old area.  He's a super cool dude and this first week together has been a blast!

This week was really hard for me because in the end we had to drop a lot of our investigators.  It's always really hard to leave an investigator, after teaching them for 7 weeks you really care a lot about them, but sometimes maybe it's just not their time to accept the gospel.  Despite all that, I've felt calm and happy this week.  Me and Elder Fifita are excited to keep searching for new people to teach.

Some other news, this morning I had to take my pants to a sister in the ward so that she can make them bigger in the waist.  Yeah.... I think I'm getting a little chubby.

Oh, and General Conference is this week!  We get to listen to our Prophet and his apostles, what a blessing.  I hope all you guys can listen and I know you'll receive the answers to your questions.

Till next week,

Elder Starkey
