Week 58

This week we´ve been trying to be a little more observant in the street and to try and find people to serve as we´re going to lessons. God blessed us with many opportunities but I would like to share my favorite with you guys.

So Elder Threet and I are walking down the street, it was about 6:30 in the afternoon and we see this old man hobbling with his cane chasing a black lamb through the street. This might sound strange but for us it´s something normal to see. So we continued walking, then it kind of clicked in my head, " this guy is never going to catch his sheep", so we turned around and asked if we could help. He gladly said yes and we started to chase this sheep. I learned they can run faster than i thought. As I tried my beast to herd it towards the house my super cool comp walked up and picked it up and carried it to the house. Elder Threets a stud.

I love doing service because i feel more like im following christ than in any other moment.

Have a great week. Elder Starkey

Week 57

Hello Friends and Family.

It has been an interesting week for us. We felt almost as if there was a curse in our area. We have been working really hard and we were not seeing very many results, almost the whole week. We were a little bummed, its hard to be out in the sun knocking doors. But my great comp helped me see that maybe its just God testing us. I think I learned the importance of perseverance this week. I don't know if thats hows its spelled, but yeah. Finally on Friday night out of nowhere, EVERYONE and their pet snail wanted to talk with us! The craziest story is Friday night we were walking down the street and we felt that should clap at a house. It was already past nine so we were heading for the apartment when out comes a lady and immediately, without a single word from us not even our names she opens the door and says " come on in". I was like this is either a miracle or this lady is crazy and wants to kill us. We went in and figured out here name is Claudia and that she is super!!!! prepared to receive the gospel. She has a beautiful family and they want to listen and learn more. It was amazing to see how a week with almost no results can change to were the people in street are basically contacting us. I know this is the Lords work. He guides us, he lets us know what to say, he touches the hearts of the people.

Week 56

Well this has been a great week for Elder Threet and I here in Tucumán.

We found a huge snail the other night outside our apartment, its no surprise that we named him Gary and he is now our pet. We are not really sure what snails eat so whatever information you have we`re open to help. haha.

As you can see by the photos this week we had Fabians baptism. We planned to have the baptism on Saturday night but it turned out that he had to have a second interview, so we had to postpone it until Sunday morning. But we did not know that the bishop had emptied the font!!!!
We got to the chapel at 7 in the morning and the font was empty and they cut our water in the chapel!!! We were freaking out and there was nothing that we could do. We were all sad and said a prayer that we could do the baptism. Then the counselor of the bishopric got there and said that we could do it in the pool at his house! We laughed at first but then realized it was a great idea! So yep, we baptized him in a little pool! Never the less the spirit was so strong.

Week 55

Well its been a pretty crazy week here in tucumán. It. Is. HOT. here. But seriously its really humid in comparison with my other area and I´m dying a little, but I think it´ll get better with time. I´m still getting to know the area and all the members but I love it here. I got lucky with my apartment, we have....AC!! woot woot. So yeah I´ve been enjoying that recently.

My new comp, Elder Threet is a super cool guy. Its always interesting to have two Utahns together haha. We´re working really hard and were seeing the results for doing so. This week we were able to find 10 new investigators. Its been great to be able to show up to a new area and its like the Lords telling you, "theres people here that you need to help".

I hope all is well and that you take advantage of all the opportunities that you have to share the gospel.

Chau, more info next week!

Elder Stanky, (thats how some of the members say my last name)
