Week 22: Karate & Tech Decks

This week has been great!  The time is flying here in Argentina.  Every morning we have 30 minutes to do exercises, and Elder McPherson has been dragging me to the park and teaching me karate!  Ha, ha super funny.  Anybody that wants to rob us better think twice, ha ha.

Also we've been putting a lot of goals this week, and we couldn't think of any reward other than food! We're already getting fat, so after much thinking I remembered the Tech Decks I have.  It just so happens that Elder Mc skates too.  So that is our reward if we complete all our goals, we get 10 minutes with the Tech Decks!  Oh yeah!

I've learned a lot about the Spirit this week.  How the people that we're teaching can feel the Spirit, can sense it and feel that the things we're teaching them are true.  Without the gift of the Holy Ghost they can't  have that feeling stay with them.  I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I have to have that gift, and the promise we have that we can have the Spirit with us always.  I know that we can search for the help of the Spirit.  He will always guide us.  We've found some great people this week through spiritual promptings, and I know that when we follow those promptings we receive, we can be the answer to someone elses prayer.

Dax started to write out his letter the night before, and take pics of it.  Then I type it up for him.  This really cut down on the time he had to take writing a weekly email, and freed up more time for us to email back and forth. However, Jada and Wendy thought it would be fun to see the pics of his handwritten letter and read it that way.  I asked Dax, and he wanted me to do it both ways.  So in case anyone wants to read it this way, here are the pics :).  If you click on the picture, it will make it bigger and easier to read.

Week 21: Me Duele De La Pansa

This week has been interesting.  I ended up getting sick.  We think it was food poisoning, but we couldn't really do much for a couple of days.  This week we've been working a lot with Hermano Diaz. He's a recent convert thats a super cool guy, but is struggling a little with the word of wisdom. So every morning he's the first person we visit and we always sing "In Our Lovely Deseret" (his favorite hymn), and its a blast.

Also, lately we've been teaching the family Torres, which is really two families that are cousins that live next to each other.  They live next to some members that we visit all the time, and one day when we passed all the little girls were like "come to our house!"  So we did and the mom let us in.  She's reading The Book of Mormon like crazy, and she says she knows its true.  It's super fun teaching that family because all the kids always want pass along cards, so that's their reward if they read The Book of Mormon.

Anyways I'm loving it in Argentina, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity that I have to be a missionary right now!

Week 20: El Sacer Docio

This week was super busy, but also super fun.

Not much to write about this week, but tons of the families that we're teaching are awesome and so are the members.  Its so cool to be in a different part of the world, but have a little piece of home because they treat us like family.

I had a cool experience, the other night I woke up super sick in a lot of pain.  I think it was food poisoning.  I couldn't sleep and didn't know what to do.  So I woke up my comp and asked for a blessing.  Even though it was four in the morning he hopped out of bed right away and gave me a blessing.  After that I was able to fall asleep almost immediately.  Then the next day, Sunday, I was up and about ready to go to church.  I'm so grateful for the power of the priesthood, and the chance I have to be on a mission right now!
